Because it was the final copy of a Quranic verse engraved on the maihrab of a mosque demolished in an Indian airstrike on May 7 in Muzaffarabad, the Pakistani military’s massive retaliatory operation against India was formally known as Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.
A mosque sustained major damage as a result of the Indian bombing on the evening of May 6–7, according to Imtiaz Awan of News, who was reporting from Muzaffarabad. The final lines of Surah As-Saff (61:4), “Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” which means “a solid structure” or “an iron-fortified wall,” were etched into the mosque’s mihrab.
