Following External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s assertion that India notified Pakistan ahead of its May 6 operation targeting suspected terrorist infrastructure, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration is coming under fire.
Opposition leaders and analysts have expressed indignation over the news, questioning the strategic justification for warning the target country.
The main point of contention is that by giving Pakistan vital forewarning, the mission, known as “Operation Sindoor,” may have been compromised.
Critics contend that the operation’s efficacy would have been reduced if Pakistan had been given prior notice to mobilize its air defense systems and protect valuable targets.
