According to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) most recent global liveability ranking, Karachi is once again one of the least livable cities in the world.
The financial center of Pakistan was rated 170th out of 173 cities in the 2025 edition of the annual report. With a total score of 42.7 out of 100, Karachi came in slightly higher than Dhaka, Bangladesh; Tripoli, Libya; and Damascus, Syria.
This year, Karachi was the only city in Pakistan to be included in the ranking. In contrast, towns like Copenhagen, which received a score of 98.0, Vienna, and Zurich, each with a score of 97.1, were at the top of the list. Geneva (96.8) and Melbourne (97.0) rounded out the top five.
