ISLAMABAD At a meeting to evaluate the national security plan, which was headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, it was decided to contact the provinces before deciding to restrict internet or mobile phone services during Muharram-ul-Haram.
All provinces, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Islamabad, the federal capital, had their security plans for Muharram reviewed at the conference. Strict measures would be taken against those who propagate religious intolerance on social media, officials agreed.
Naqvi declared that mutual consultation would be used to decide on all required actions and choices pertaining to Muharram security. He declared that the federal government would do everything in its power to keep the peace throughout the holy month.
