According to a newly passed domestic policy measure from the Trump administration, the United States will start charging foreign travelers a new “visa integrity fee” of at least $250 in addition to the current visa application expenses.
All visitors who require nonimmigrant visas to enter the United States, including tourists, business travelers, international students, and other short-term visitors, will be subject to the cost. The State Department reports that in fiscal year 2024, around 11 million nonimmigrant visas were granted.
Since they do not require visas, visitors from countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program, like Australia and several European countries, will not be charged the cost if they are staying for 90 days or less.
No exceptions will be made, and the fee must be paid at the time the visa is issued.
