The 12th named storm of the season, Storm Lilian, is sweeping the UK. Until 9am on Friday, two yellow weather warnings for rain have been issued for south-west Scotland and the Aberdeenshire coast.
According to the Met Office, thunder is possible and 20–30 mm of rain is predicted overall for both locations, with a chance of 40–50 mm for higher ground.
Strong gusts in the range of 50 to 60 mph are forecast, and a separate warning is in effect for portions of northern England, north Wales, and south-west Scotland until 11 a.m. on Friday.
The RAC predicts that 19.2 million leisure car trips will be taken over the weekend, with 3.2 million occurring on Friday alone, as the bank holiday gets underway.
There are also a ton of events, such as Creamfields, an electronic dance event, and the sold-out Reading and Leeds festivals.
