According to a study, the average duration of cold symptoms was six days while utilizing salt water nasal drops, or saline solution, as opposed to eight days when using conventional cold medication.
Additionally, it can lessen the likelihood that other family members would catch a cold.
Working on the ELVIS-Kids randomised controlled study, Professor Steve Cunningham of the University of Edinburgh stated: “There is a significant impact on children and their families from the 10 to 12 upper respiratory tract infections (often known as colds) that children get annually.
Children who used salt water nasal drops experienced cold symptoms for an average of six days, compared to eight days for those who received conventional treatment.
“During their illness, the kids who got salt water nasal drops also required less medication.
Reducing the length of a child’s cold implies that fewer individuals in the home will catch one as well, which has obvious effects on how soon a household recovers and can resume regular activities like work and school.
