The leader of the Liberal Democrats stated that “care and carers must not be forgotten and ignored any longer” in an impassioned and intimate keynote address on Tuesday in Brighton.
No one else will provide that hope if the Liberal Democrats don’t—if we don’t advocate for care in parliament,” he continued.
“It goes without saying that the Conservatives don’t give a damn. However, did you know that Labour’s election plan made no mention of caregivers? Nor was there a single mention of caregivers in the King’s Speech.
“However, Keir Starmer did mention caregivers in his first Prime Minister’s Questions. since I ensured that they would.
When his parents passed away, Sir Ed talked about taking care of his “wonderful Nanna” who had taken care of him when his mother battled bone cancer.
“Now, Emily and I, caring for our wonderful, smiley 16-year-old son John – with his challenges from his severe disabilities,” he continued.
“Considering that he was only nine years old when he learned to say “Daddy,” it’s a blessing that he can still yell “Daddy” to wake me up at 5:30 in the morning.
