Between 5 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday, a yellow warning has been issued for a large portion of England and Wales, with the exception of North Wales, the West Midlands, and the North West.
As per the Met Office, “there is some uncertainty in the details” of this warning; however, certain regions may get rainfall of up to 30mm (1.18in) in two to three hours, and perhaps up to 60mm (2.36in) in four to six hours.
As the forecaster stated, “strong, gusty winds and lightning” could possibly pose a risk in some regions.
It further stated that there is a remote possibility of swift-moving or deep floodwater endangering human life.
At Billing Aquadrome, police and firefighters assisted in removing people from the rising floodwaters.
According to West Northamptonshire Council, “very few people still reside there.”
This weather advisory comes on top of a previous yellow warning for rain that was issued for Thursday. The previous warning covered much of the North East, from Newcastle upon Tyne to Skegness, and lasted the entire day.
