rescued,The rain that had been battering the nation since Friday night finally let up on Sunday, but rescue, recovery, and cleanup operations still needed to be completed.
At least 34 people lost their lives in Kathmandu, which was the biggest city affected by the flooding on Saturday. According to officials, 1,053 individuals were rescued and at least 17 others were hurt.
14 victims were found by rescuers throughout the course of the night from two buses that were traveling to Kathmandu when they were buried in a landslide next to a roadway.
Rescuers were still searching through mud and boulders for survivors near the site of at least one more bus and other vehicles that were still buried.
Landslides on Sunday blocked three major highways, including the crucial Prithvi highway that connects the city to the rest of the country, cutting off Kathmandu entirely.
Heavy machinery has been used to clear blocked roads, and police and troops have assisted with rescue operations.
As the waters in the flooded southern section of the capital started to ebb, residents there were tidying up their homes.
