When Thomas Kwan, 53, gave Patrick O’Hara the fictitious COVID vaccine on January 22 in Newcastle, northern England—more than three hours north of London—he was wearing a wig, facial hair, and a medical mask.
According to Northumbria police, Kwan sent phony letters to O’Hara claiming that he needed a COVID vaccination in order to set up a fraudulent medical appointment. This was reported to Reuters.
According to the authorities, Kwan disguised himself so that O’Hara and his mother, who are both in their 70s, would not be able to identify him.
They thought he was just a caregiver.
Within hours of the injection, O’Hara reportedly felt “seriously unwell” and developed a skin condition surrounding the injection site, according to the police. After seeing his general practitioner, O’Hara was admitted to the hospital right away. He showed letters proving his injection to hospital staff upon his arrival, but they believed them to be false.
He suffered “life-changing injuries” after receiving skin grafts to address “extensive damage the poisoning caused to his body,” according to the police. Necrotizing fasciitis is a deadly flesh-eating bacterial infection that causes the skin disease.
