According to the institute, the infection happened overseas and was discovered last Friday. It stated that while it was “monitoring the situation very closely,” it did not believe Germany was at greater risk.
Clade 1 and Clade 2 are the two primary subtypes of mpox, a virus that is related to smallpox that causes fever, body pains, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash that turns into blisters.
Clade 2 began to spread globally in May 2022, mostly affecting gay and bisexual men in the US and Europe. The World Health Organization (WHO) raised its level of concern about the spread to an international public health emergency in July 2022.
The WHO removed the emergency in many countries after vaccination and awareness campaigns helped reduce the number of cases worldwide.
