The federal government’s decision to raise the price of petroleum goods has drawn harsh criticism from opposition parties, who argue that it will further tax the already burdened masses affected by inflation.
On Thursday evening, the government increased the price of gasoline by Rs1.35 per litre, which will remain in place until November 15, in contrast to what the market had anticipated.
According to a notice from the Finance Division, the price of petrol has increased from Rs247.03 to Rs248.38 per liter. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has gone up by Rs3.85, from Rs251.29 to Rs255.14 per litre.
Light diesel oil, on the other hand, decreased by Rs2.61 to Rs147.51 a litre, while kerosene oil experienced a reduction of Rs1.48, bringing the price down to Rs161.54.
