On Christmas Day, more than 450 migrants—the first to arrive in over a week—crossed the English Channel in small boats.
On Wednesday morning, 11 boats traveled from France to the UK, and more are anticipated in the days ahead.
Official government statistics show that 451 people arrived on Christmas Day.
“We all want to end dangerous small boat crossings, which threaten lives and undermine our border security,” a Home Office official stated.
So far in 2024, over 35,000 persons have traveled, a 20% increase over the previous year.
A period of over a week without crossings was broken by those who arrived at Dover on December 25.
