Kaitlin Armstrong, the convicted love-triangle killer, was apprehended by law enforcement after using a fake advertisement for a yoga instructor to entice her back to the United States after she fled to Central America following facial plastic surgery.
According to US Marshalls, Armstrong was apprehended that summer after leaving the country after shooting professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson in May 2022.
As per CBS News, the Marshalls pursued the runaway murderer throughout the United States and into Costa Rica, thinking she was concealed close to the shore. But in order to fool authorities, she was employing plastic surgery and several names.
Rather, the federal government coerced her into coming to them by using her passion for yoga and placing a job posting for a yoga instructor on a Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, local Facebook page.
It took about a week for Armstrong, who is currently serving a 90-year sentence for killing Wilson out of jealousy, to bite, but right before the Marshals were set to leave for the US, they received a message from a person posing as a yoga instructor.
Deputy US Marshal Emir Perez told CBS News, “We got a bite, somebody that, um, identified herself… as a yoga instructor and said they wanted to meet with us at a particular hostel.” “And we exclaimed, ‘This is our opportunity!'”
Perez and Deputy US Marshal Damien Fernandez raced to Santa Teresa from San Jose. They discovered her in a hostel, analyzing her bandaged nose and swollen lips—parts of her identity concealment surgeries—while conversing in Spanish. But her eyes were the same as in the previous picture.
“That’s her,” he says as soon as he gets in the car. “She is present,”
