In contrast to early intelligence assessments that indicated only little impact, senior US defense officials have asserted that recent military attacks had destroyed Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine discussed a leaked study that said the June 22 strikes had only temporarily hampered Iran’s nuclear program during a news briefing Thursday morning at the Pentagon.
In line with earlier remarks made by US President Donald Trump, the authorities said that the strikes had successfully destroyed Iran’s main nuclear sites.
