KARACHI: In response to the death of a 38-year-old man who resisted a robbery in Karachi’s Johar Chowrangi neighborhood, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar suspended the station house officer (SHO) of Sharea Faisal Police Station on Friday.
Lanjar expressed his inability to forgive the growing number of street criminal incidences by saying, “Incidents like this are unforgivable.”
Rahber Ali, 38, was shot and killed late on Thursday night by robbers who resisted. According to the police, after the robbers were apprehended, the residents physically attacked them.
The law enforcement officer stated that one of the robbers was apprehended with injuries, while the other made off with nothing.
In the month of Ramadan, at least six persons in Karachi lost their lives as a result of resisting robbery, demonstrating the city’s epidemic of street crimes.
Meanwhile, snatching episodes in Karachi have resulted in the deaths of at least 47 civilians thus far this year.
Details indicate that in 75 police engagements, six robbers were murdered and 93 accused were taken into custody injured.
