According to local media, a 24-year-old Indian man was detained by Japan’s Shiga Prefectural Police last month on suspicion of raping a high school student in Otsu City.
According to the Japanese daily Kyoto Shimbun on Tuesday, the unidentified suspect allegedly strangled and sexually raped the girl in a hotel “between 12:40am and 1:20am on June 21.”
The suspect, a temporary employee who resides in Otsu, rejected the accusation during police questioning, stating, “I did not force her.”
But according to the local police, the adolescent girl and the suspect were strangers.
