Divergent narratives have surfaced on Pakistan’s social media platforms. Certain users have reported experiencing problems gaining access to X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube on December 17, when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was hosting an online political assembly.
However, some users have brushed these accusations aside as “lies,” maintaining that on December 17, no social media network went down.
The earlier assertions are accurate. On December 17, there was a reported brief internet outage from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
