Security camera footage of the unusual incident shows one of the mariachis following the fire-breather, putting him in a headlock, and striking him many times as traffic on a busy street stops.
On Sunday, the fire-breather is seen on the street as five members of the band kick and punch him in front of a taco restaurant called El Inferno, or ‘Hell’, in Morelia, west of Mexico City.
The mariachis, most clad in customary white shirts and black trousers, with some holding guitars, are then seen fleeing, several of them in flames.
They hastily remove their flaming garments, and one is seen rolling on the ground to extinguish the fire.
