Before being arrested early on Tuesday, Timberlake, 43, was allegedly eating supper with pals on Long Island, New York.
Before being freed on Tuesday morning, the Grammy winner was detained overnight and formally charged with a misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.
Attorney Edward Burke Jr. declared: “I’m excited to strongly defend Mr. Timberlake against these accusations.
“I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.”
\When the 43-year-old music sensation was stopped, he was operating a BMW.
According to a court record, an officer who stopped him reported that he had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and that there was a “strong odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath”.
The court documents also stated that “he was unsteady on foot, lacked the ability to divide attention, slowed his speech, and did poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.”
Following his companions home, Timberlake, whose mugshot was made public after his arrest, allegedly told police he had just had one martini and declined to submit to a breathalyzer test.
