For over two hours on Saturday morning, security checks at the domestic terminal of Hokkaido’s New Chitose Airport were suspended, momentarily leaving hundreds of travelers stuck.
Large lines and bottlenecks formed as travelers in the departure lounge had to repeat their security procedures.
The lost scissors were located at the same store the next day, despite authorities’ best efforts to find them.
Security checks and flights eventually resumed that Saturday, even though the scissors were nowhere to be found.
The owner of New Chitose Airport, Hokkaido Airport, declared on Monday that the scissors had been located.
The announcement wasn’t made until authorities were certain that the scissors were the same as the ones that went missing, they explained.
After Japan’s annual Bon holiday, many of the travelers impacted by the cancellations and delays were scheduled to return home.
