Authorities said that on Wednesday morning, an avalanche at a California ski resort near Lake Tahoe claimed the life of a 66-year-old skier and injured another.
The Palisades Tahoe ski resort experienced an avalanche at about 9:30 a.m., which swiftly spurred a multi-team search and rescue operation for possible victims, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. According to a statement released by Palisades Tahoe, over 100 employees of the resort helped with the search.
Kenneth Kidd, a resident of Point Reyes and the Truckee region close to Lake Tahoe, was the deceased person, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office expressed, “Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Kidd during this difficult time.”
