A tent camp in Khan Younis in the Al-Mawasi neighborhood, which is a recognized humanitarian zone, was hit by at least four missiles in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the Gaza municipal emergency service.
At least 20 tents caught fire as a result of the missile hits, which left craters as deep as nine meters (30 feet), according to locals and emergency personnel.
The head of Gaza’s civil emergency office declared that “it looks like a new Israeli massacre” and that their teams “are still moving out martyrs and wounded from the targeted area”.
The emergency services stated that women and children were among the 65 people killed and injured, but they did not provide the exact numbers.
The Israel Defence Forces acknowledged carrying out the operation in a statement, claiming that it “struck significant Hamas terrorists who were operating within a command and control centre embedded inside the Humanitarian Area in Khan Younis”.
The terrorists proceeded and launched terror assaults against Israel and its troops; they continued.
