According to Police Inspector-General Razarudin Husain during a news conference, the victims, who ranged in age from one to seventeen, had suffered from a variety of abuses, some of which included being forced to engage in sexual acts on other minors.
171 people have been detained by the police, including caregivers and religious instructors.
The care facilities are purportedly associated with a well-known Islamic corporation that has denied any misconduct in a statement.
Following complaints earlier this month of child exploitation, molestation, and sexual assault at another institution in Negeri Sembilan state, police raided 20 welfare homes in the states of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan on Wednesday.
Some of the suspects, who range in age from 17 to 64, allegedly touched the youngsters during a press conference on Wednesday, Insp. Razarudin informed reporters, claiming it was a part of their religious treatment. It has also been stated that some kids were trained to engage in comparable sexual practices with other kids in the house.
Furthermore, he said, children were “punished using heated metal objects,” and sick people were prohibited from seeking medical attention until their conditions became life-threatening.
According to Inspector Razarudin, the kids would get health examinations and be kept in a police center at Kuala Lumpur for the time being.
