It comes after claims made on Saturday in the Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant that Hof had mistreated his ex-girlfriend for 13 years, physically and mentally abusing her and their kid as well as her two oldest children.
The 65-year-old Hof has refuted every accusation, asserting that he “is not violent” and that his former partner is “on the warpath” and “now wants to make it seem different than it was.”
Since then, he has lodged a complaint alleging slander and defamation. He claims he plans to sue De Volksrant in civil court as well.
The singer “recognised himself” in the claims detailed in the Dutch news piece, according to a statement that Hof’s organization, Wim Hof Method, sent to News.
“He hopes for their well-being,” Hof stated, describing his relationship with his former partner—who was only identified as Carolina in the article—as “unhealthy” and expressing his sadness over the “difficult period”‘s impact on her and her children.
The statement added that answers to 40 queries sent to Hof prior to publication “were either not included or were very briefly mentioned in the article” and cast doubt on the veracity of at least one of De Volksrants’s sources.
