Letby lacked the “overall characteristics” necessary to succeed as a registered nurse, according to her assessor, Nicola Lightfoot, deputy ward manager on the children’s section at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
“I thought Lucy was pretty cold,” she said to the questioner. She did not radiate the warmth I would have expected from a pediatric nurse.
We observe students that excel academically, but from a personality perspective, they don’t seem to fit the description of a children’s nurse, which includes traits [like].
Letby’s clinical knowledge, according to Ms. Lightfoot, was “not where it should be” and she “struggled” to remember details about determining medicine dosages and identifying typical drug side effects.
Letby needed “much more support, prompting, and supervision than I would expect at this stage to allow her to qualify as a competent practitioner,” according to the assessor’s July 2011 assessment.
