An armed conflict with terrorists in Goharkuh, in the Sistan-Balochistan province’s Taftan County, on Saturday claimed the lives of at least ten police officers and troops.
The Tehran Times reports that the conflict started when unknown gunmen assaulted a police patrol car, sparking fierce combat that claimed many patrol members’ lives.
According to early reports, the attack was directed at both the military and the members of the law enforcement team.
Additionally, the Sistan-Balochistan Police acknowledged the attack in a statement.
The attack, which occurred some 1,200 kilometers southeast of Tehran, was later attributed to the terrorist organization Jaish al-Adl, also known as Jaish al-Zulm in Iran.
