About two months before the coins were scheduled to go into circulation, 63,000 of the Australian Mint-produced coins were reported stolen from a facility in Western Sydney in July.
Following a raid on a residence approximately 6 miles (10 km) from the storage facility on Tuesday, authorities retrieved 40,061 coins.
Christina Vale, 27, was detained and charged with breaking and entering and disposing of stolen stuff earlier that day, according to the police. She was the third individual detained in connection with the purported theft.
The coins were stolen two months prior to their scheduled release and are worth A$1 ($0.65; 50p) each.
They had previously been selling online for ten times their face value, according to New South Wales Police.
NSW Police opened a special inquiry into the theft shortly after it was discovered, naming the operation Strike Force Bandit in honor of Bluey’s father.
Steven Nielsen, a 44-year-old warehouse worker, and Nassar Kanj, a 44-year-old who they claim was his accomplice in the suspected heist, were taken into custody in August.
