DUBAI: A group of con artists who pretended to be car buyers, paid with fictitious checks, and quickly moved the vehicles overseas have been apprehended by Dubai Police.
Law enforcement officials said that after receiving numerous reports, the anti-fraud section quickly dismantled the organization, which had been running a well-organized network.
As an explanation of their methods, they said that one member negotiated agreements, another issued counterfeit checks under a false identity, and the cars were swiftly moved to fictitious owners before being sent the next day.
