PARACHINAR: As attempts to bring about enduring peace in the region continue, elders in Lower and Upper Kurram willingly turned over heavy weapons on Saturday, according to The News.
In the first phase, a large number of heavy weapons were turned up to the authorities by elders from Lower and Upper Kurram.
These actions were carried out in accordance with the peace deal agreed in Kohat, which also resulted in the destruction of some 1,000 bunkers built by opposing factions, according to Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Ahmed. In the days ahead, the voluntary transfer of guns will continue in various parts of the district.
