Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that Pakistan purposefully chose to pay in the same currency “which their enemy knew very well — with force,” as New Delhi and Islamabad agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire following days of military attacks.
“Pakistan made it clear that the negotiations, which ought to take place at a table, would now be held on the battlefield,” the PM stated during his Saturday night speech to the country.
At least 31 people, including children, were murdered in an unprovoked Indian cross-border attack on May 7, marking the most recent escalation in the long-running conflict between India and Pakistan. Pakistan responded by bringing down dozens of drones and five IAF fighter jets, including three Rafales.
