Authorities warn of additional rain in the days ahead, and the death toll from the disastrous floods in Texas has increased to 109.
According to Sheriff Larry Leitha, rescue crews are still looking for people who are missing, particularly in the hardest-hit places like Kerr County, where the majority of the bodies—87—were discovered until Tuesday morning.
It is anticipated that heavy rains will make the rescue and recovery efforts even more difficult.
Among the dead were at least 27 counselors and girls who spent the Fourth of July holiday weekend at a youth summer camp on the Guadalupe River.
“At present, five Camp Mystic campers and one counsellor still remain unaccounted for,” Leitha stated.
