HUNT: With more than 160 people still listed as missing, concerns that the death toll from the Texas flash floods could more than quadruple increased to 119 on Wednesday.
As Governor Greg Abbott ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in response to the tragedy, workers in central Texas proceeded to go through mounds of muddy debris from the July 4 floods.
161 individuals were verified missing in Kerr County, the epicenter of the flooding, by officials on Wednesday.
Sheriff Larry Leitha told reporters that Kerr County, which is located in the central Texas Hill Country region known as “Flash Flood Alley,” sustained the most devastation, with at least 95 fatalities, including 36 children.
