The statements were made in a 2020 interview that News obtained, by the Russian opposition leader who passed away earlier this month. He also talked about the risks he realized he was taking and his expectations for Russia.
In an exclusive interview obtained by News, the deceased Russian opposition leader discussed his aspirations for a better future for his nation, as well as the perils he was aware of.
Saying, “I am an optimist,” he declared. “I’m hoping that Putin’s 20 years are not permanent. We weren’t destined for it; that wasn’t our intended path.”
Four years prior to his death, he made these remarks during an interview in a prison colony located north of the Arctic Circle.
Known for being President Putin’s most outspoken adversary, Mr. Navalny passed out on February 16 and did not wake up.
The interview, which took place in February 2020, is thought to have been the last one that Mr. Navalny gave when he was well.
He was poisoned in August of that year while returning to Moscow by plane.
