Because of his pommel horse routine, Stephen Nedoroscik was able to qualify for the Olympic team and helped the men’s gymnastics team win their first medal in sixteen years.
However, the 25-year-old spent almost three hours watching from the sidelines before he took the pommel. It was then that he won the hearts of the spectators.
He whipped off his glasses for his performance, which led to him being swiftly dubbed “Mr Pommel Horse” on social media.
Tess McCracken, his girlfriend, told News, that she has been adoring the memes.
In addition to drawing comparisons between him and Superman’s glasses-wearing persona, some have labeled him the team’s “babygirl” and quipped that his profession is “pommel horse” (a reference to the Barbie movie, in which Ken’s job is defined as “beach”) and charming.
“This entire adventure has had such an unexpected side effect of blowing up on the internet,” Ms. McCracken told News.
