ISLAMABAD: The government’s decision to block roadways in an attempt to discourage and impede the march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers towards Islamabad has had a negative impact on the fuel supply chain, raising the possibility of shortages in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
“Petroleum products could become scarce in Lahore and throughout Punjab… ” Some Lahore gas stations have low gasoline supplies [but] haven’t run out yet,” claimed Khawaja Atif, secretary of the Petroleum Dealers Association, in a statement.
The warning comes as any fuel scarcity will worsen the financial consequences of the current protest and greatly worsen the plight of civilians, whose freedom of movement has already been hampered by roadblocks, according to Finance Minister Muhammad.
