After asking for the maximum prison term of 20 years, a French public prosecutor told the court that Dominique Pelicot, the man who orchestrated the rape of his unconscious wife by over 50 men, is “fully responsible” for his crimes.
In front of a crowded courtroom in Avignon, southern France, public prosecutor Laure Chabaud said Monday that the sentence would be “long” but “not enough considering the serious nature of these acts.”
There are several instances throughout history of criminals who can both portray themselves in a pleasant manner and commit the most heinous crimes. This is the case with Dominique Pelicot. He was a kind grandfather, father, and spouse, according to Chabaud.
