MIAMI: Police in the southeastern US state of Florida reported Thursday that two people were killed in a mass shooting at a university there, which was allegedly carried out by the son of a local deputy sheriff using her former service firearm.
Before being shot and wounded by local law police, the gunman, named as Phoenix Ikner, went on a rampage at Florida State University, shooting at students and leaving five people hospitalized.
Moments after the lunchtime shootings, students were told to stay indoors while first responders flooded the campus as gunfire broke out and the school was closed down.
