The detention of a well-known local journalist by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank has been denounced by the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate.
A raid on his son’s house in the northern city of Jenin early Tuesday resulted in the arrest of Ali al-Samoudi, who has done a lot of work with Western media.
According to his son Mohammed, the 58-year-old was sent to an Israeli hospital after being questioned for 30 minutes at an unidentified location since his health had gotten worse.
Without providing any supporting documentation, the Israeli military claimed that Samoudi was “identified with the [Palestinian] Islamic Jihad terrorist organization” and “suspected in the transfer of funds” to it.
