The 34-year-old Lukas McClish was last seen on June 11 morning close to Big Basin Redwood State Park, which is located around 14 miles north of Santa Cruz.
According to several reports, the sheriff’s office heard someone shouting for assistance.
Subsequently, the force employed multiple drones to pinpoint Mr. McClish’s precise location.
State Parks rangers discovered him on Friday, and they received help from fire departments to move him to safety.
Mr. McClish told local media that he got disoriented while out for a three-hour hike before work.
“I didn’t bring anything because I thought I was doing a three-hour hike to go to work,” he stated.
Mr. McClish claimed to have only a lantern and folding scissors with him when he became lost.
He went on, “So, I kind of just hiked.” “Each day, I go up a canyon, down a canyon to the next waterfall, sit down by the waterfall, drink water out of my boot.”
According to Mr. McClish, he “wasn’t worried about it” and felt “comfortable the whole time I was out there”.
“I had a mountain lion that was following me, but it was cool,” he continued. It maintained its distances. I believe it was just someone keeping an eye on me.”
