After the blades were first outlawed in 2016, the government declared five months ago that it would be enacting new regulations.
On Thursday, the government plans to “close the loophole” on the weapons, which were initially outlawed in 2016.
They were prohibited from using “images or words that suggest that it is to be used for the purpose of violence” as well as sharp or cutting edges.
However, the Home Office stated that the new law will also outlaw knives in the zombie style that don’t contain any ominous language or imagery.
It follows the introduction of the Don’t Stop Your Future campaign by actor Idris Elba, which demands an immediate prohibition on these knives.
The government announcement was hailed by him as a “step in the right direction”.
He told BBC Breakfast that he has “concerns” about the legislation’s viability, saying, “We’ve seen in the past that it hasn’t achieved, in fact you see knife crime rise in certain instances.”
