A worrying issue is that Union Council number 4 in Islamabad has reported the first incidence of polio in sixteen years.
With 17 instances so far this year, the most recent incidence represents a major setback in the nation’s ongoing battle against polio.
Health official Ayesha Raza Farooq confirmed the case, raising concerns about the virus’s reappearance in the nation’s capital after more than ten years.
“We are intensifying efforts to reach every child with the polio vaccine,” declared Anwar-ul-Haq, Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center, highlighting the government’s renewed commitment to eradicating the infection.
Given that the polio virus still poses a hazard to public health, health authorities are stepping up vaccine campaigns in an effort to stop new cases.
