In a video posted on X on Wednesday night, the 63-year-old, who gained notoriety for her parodies of Nicola Sturgeon’s COVID-19 news briefings during the pandemic, revealed she will be entering a hospice.
In the video, the comedian stated, “I’m in the hospital receiving end-of-life care and palliative care right now.
“The cancer has spread since the chemo ran out of alternatives, and I was unable to handle it any longer.
“So, it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it and it’s really difficult to speak about this and say to people.”
Godley also expressed gratitude to charities, her family, friends, and supporters for their support, as well as the NHS and those who have provided her care.
She had to postpone her autumn tour earlier this month because of her recurrence of stage four ovarian cancer, which had been treated with NHS care for a few years but had become more complicated.
I just wanted to let you know how much I value all of your support and affection for me. I am one of the two in one [seems to suggest one in two] people impacted by cancer.
She expressed her desire that everyone would have a wonderful Christmas, but she couldn’t guarantee it.
