The Punjab administration has declared a shift in school schedules as the province’s air quality improves.
The decision was made almost a month after the province’s AQI hit its lowest points. From October 28 to January 31, 2024, the October 23 notification was in force. However, the government changed the timing as a result of environmental improvements.
In the past, Lahore schools were required to start by 8:45 a.m. Outdoor activities were halted and assemblies were conducted in classrooms.
Environment Director General Imran Hameed Sheikh announced on Tuesday that all public and private schools must open after 8:15 a.m. starting on December 4, 2024.
It stated, “The notification is effective immediately.”
