Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi voiced grave concerns about the next three-day Pashtoon Qaumi Jirga, which is being organized by the recently outlawed Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), and threatened to use an iron fist to anyone discovered on be aiding the illegal group.
At a news conference on Wednesday in Islamabad, he declared, “We will not allow parallel judicial system [in the country] in any case.”
Days before the press conference, the Manzoor Pashteen-led PTM was outlawed by the coalition government led by Shehbaz Sharif, alleging threats to “peace and security”.
“The PTM is pleased to be listed in the First Schedule as a proscribed organization by the federal government, which has reason to believe that the PTM is involved in certain activities detrimental to the peace and security of the nation.”
