As a result of the National Crime Agency’s investigation into PPE Medpro, a 46-year-old man has been placed under arrest.
The NCA is investigating possible criminal offenses related to the consortium’s acquisition of PPE contracts.
According to the agency, the suspect, who is from Barnet, in north London, was being held at his residence on Wednesday morning.
He was taken into custody on allegations of trying to sway the course of justice and conspiring to commit fraud. NCA investigators are currently questioning him.
Following Lady Mone’s recommendation to ministers, PPE Medpro, a consortium headed by Baroness Michelle Mone’s husband Doug Barrowman, was given government contracts worth over £200 million to supply personal protective equipment.
Business owners of lingerie, Lady Mone, 52, and Mr. Barrowman, 59, have been in the news for their “VIP lane” contracts, which some companies were given to supply products meant to ward against coronavirus infection during the COVID pandemic.
Since then, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has opened a breach of contract case regarding the 2020 gown supply agreement.
