Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, recently informed Secretary of State Antony Blinken that any American acknowledgment of a Palestinian state would serve as a “prize” for the terrorists from Hamas who orchestrated the October 7 slaughter.
When the two of them met in person last week, Netanyahu said this to Blinken, according to a Thursday Axios story. Blinken was informed by the prime minister that acknowledgment, whether explicit or implicit, “would be a prize for those who planned and orchestrated the Oct. 7 massacre.”
Insinuating that the United States would recognize a Palestinian state, President Biden and other American leaders have stated time and time again that Israel’s battle against Hamas should conclude with a two-state solution.
By not using its veto to prevent the U.N. from fully recognizing Palestinian officials as a member state, the U.S. may indirectly accept a Palestinian state.
