Local media stated that a 57-year-old Czech man was taken into custody on Friday after he broke apart a big blue and white porcelain cube at the Palazzo Fava museum in Bologna.
He said that the struggle depicted by the Chinese artist “has nothing to do with this violent, potentially dangerous, reckless and senseless act, and is a warning against the violence and injustice perpetrated by those in power.”
“A habitual troublemaker seeking attention by damaging artists, works, monuments and institutions,” was how Mr. Galansino described the culprit.
The cube is a component of the Who Am I exhibit.was destroyed prior to the show’s public opening during an invitation-only event.
As requested by the artist, the organizers took down the fragments and replaced them with a life-sized print of the piece that came with a label that explained what had transpired.
On his Instagram account, Ai posted CCTV footage of the attack, showing the man lingering near the artwork before abruptly turning around and shoving it off its display stand, causing it to break on the gallery floor.
