The first edition of Title was released on June 23, 1972. It is illegal for schools and other educational programs that receive federal funds to discriminate against students based on their sex.

The Biden administration has released new Title IX regulations that focus on protecting LGBTQ+ students and altering the ways that sexual harassment and violence are doing it.
The new regulations did not go so far as to prohibit transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports versus other women.
Following a lawsuit filed by a Christian Educators Association International and a West Virginia girl regarding a transgender adolescent participating on a middle school team, a U.S. district court in Kentucky last week ordered the suspension of the Biden administration’s new Title protections. Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Virginia, and West Virginia are all covered by the new injunction.
